Facilities

The laboratory, hosted  in a clean envronment, is equipped with an integrated ultra high vacuum  system (UHV) comprising an UHV-CVD chamber  dedicated to the deposition of  group-IV semiconductors  connected  to XPS, UPS and RHEED experimental chambers.

The laboratory is also equipped with   morphological, electrical and optical characterization tools.

The LFTS joined the  LIME  lab at Università Roma Tre,  expanding its analytical capabilities with TEM, SEM, and dual-beam FIB/SEM system.

SiGe heterostructures for THz radiation 

Fabrication and characterization of  SiGe heterostructures designed for THz radiation absorption/emission

SiGe-based mesoscopic devices

 

Fabrication and characterization of 2D carrier gases, quantum wires, and mesoscopic devices based on SiGe heterostructures.

 

GeSi Self-assembled islands

Studies on the morphological, structural, optical and electrical properties  of single- and multi-layers of self-assembled Ge/Si islands grown by UHV-CVD.
