Brief description of Scientific Activity
My research activity is in the field of theoretical elementary particles physics and concerns the phenomenology of fundamental interactions, in the Standard Model and beyond. The main topics of my research interests are flavor physics, non-perturbative QCD, weak interactions, CP violation and physics beyond the Standard Model. In this context, I have performed non-perturbative calculations based on numerical simulations of Lattice QCD, perturbative calculations and phenomenological analysis.
I have presented more than 30 invited talks at international conferences, among which plenary review talks at Chiral Dynamics 2015 (Pisa, Italia), Kaon 2013 (Ann Arbor, Michigan, USA), Lepton-Photon 2011 (Mumbai, India), Lattice 2009 (Beijing, China), Lattice 2004 (Fermilab, Illinois, USA), Lattice 2000 (Bangalore, India), Heavy Quarks and Leptons 2010 (Laboratori Nazionali di Frascati of INFN, Rome, Italy), Heavy Quarks and Leptons 2006 (Munich, Germany). I served as a member of the organizing committee and convenor of several international conferences and workshops.
I perform regular referee activity for various scientific international journals and evaluations of research projects for the Italian ministry MIUR - Ministero dell'Università e della Ricerca. I have evaluated research projects for the
I have evaluated research projects for several scientific institutions abroad, among which the European Research Council (ERC) of the European Union, the National Science Foundation (NSF) of the United States, the Royal Society of United Kingdom and the Austrian Science Fund (FWF).
I am author or co-author of more than 120 published papers on international refereed journals and of a similar number of conference proceedings. According to the INSPIRES database, 5 of these papers have collected more than 500 citations, 8 more than 250 citations and 35 more than 100 citations, with an average number of 66 citations per paper, 117 citations per publication on refereed journals, and a total number of about 17.000 citations with h-index = 65.
I am included in the list of Top Italian Scientists published by the VIA-Academy, in 49-th position in Physics for h-index = 69 on the Google Scholar database
I also enjoy the activity of science communication. I held many public lectures on topics of modern physics, particularly on the subjects of Quantum Mechanics, Time in physics and the Origin of mass. I also participated as a theoretical physicist to educational programs on the RAI, the national Italian TV. I regularly give seminars and series of lectures addressed to high school teachers or students. I'm coauthor of a textbook on Thermodynamics addressed to students of the high school.
